As Heraclitus once said, “No [wo]man ever steps into the same river twice, for it’s not the same river and [s]he is not the same [wo]man.” This belief captures my philosophy in therapy — that change is constant, and every session is an opportunity for growth and self-discovery.

I founded Valentine Counseling Services with a simple yet profound purpose: to create a space where people can be truly seen, supported, and accepted for who they are. My role as a therapist is to walk alongside you as you navigate life’s challenges, helping you uncover the strength, wisdom, and resilience that already exist within you.

I strive to provide a warm, genuine, and non-judgmental environment where you can speak freely and feel heard. I believe that when we feel secure and understood, we are better able to explore our experiences, process our emotions, and move toward a more balanced, fulfilling life.

Approach

My therapeutic approach is grounded in mutual respect, honesty, and trust — the foundation of meaningful healing. I draw from several modalities, including Internal Family Systems (IFS), Somatic Focused Therapy, and Brainspotting. I believe that our perceptions of the world are shaped by our thoughts and experiences, and that these perceptions can evolve over time. When life feels uncertain, I offer a steady presence and gentle guidance to help you rediscover confidence and clarity.

My style is direct yet compassionate. I ask thoughtful questions, listen deeply, and encourage you to speak your truth openly. Together, we’ll explore both the patterns that hold you back and the possibilities that move you forward.

I view therapy as a collaborative process — one where we focus on the present moment, while also honoring your past and the hope that your future holds. As Jean-Paul Sartre wrote, “No matter what we have been, we can make choices now and thus become something quite different.” In our work together, I aim to help you make those choices with courage, awareness, and intention.

Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with individuals, couples, and families as they navigate life’s most meaningful — and often most challenging — experiences. My areas of focus include:

  • Grief and loss

  • Anxiety, depression, and mood-related concerns

  • Parenting and family dynamics

  • Relationship and intimacy challenges

  • Identity and empowerment

  • Stress and emotional regulation

My therapeutic framework integrates elements of Internal Family Systems (IFS), Brainspotting, Health Realization, Solution-Focused Therapy, Meta-Cognitive approaches and Narrative Therapy to help clients uncover insight, create change, and find new meaning in their stories. I also incorporate tools such as family genograms, role-playing, and psychoeducation to deepen understanding and foster growth.

I believe that healing begins in a space where you can feel seen, heard, and accepted exactly as you are. My goal is to create a warm, inviting, and supportive environment where you can express your thoughts and emotions freely—without fear of judgment. Together, we’ll explore what’s holding you back and identify new ways of thinking, feeling, and connecting that promote growth and healing.

Whether you’re an individual navigating life transitions, a couple working to rebuild connection, or a family seeking greater understanding, I am here to walk alongside you as you take meaningful steps toward healing and change.

Approach

My therapeutic style is direct, collaborative, and compassionate. I believe that insight and change are created through honest exploration, gentle curiosity, and the willingness to look beneath the surface.

I draw primarily from the Internal Family Systems (IFS) model when working with trauma, helping clients understand the many “parts” of themselves with empathy and awareness. By exploring how the past has shaped your current identity and relationships, we can uncover patterns that may no longer serve you—and begin to create something new.

My work is rooted in the belief that healing happens through connection—both within ourselves and with others. I strive to ask thoughtful questions that inspire critical thinking, deepen self-understanding, and foster long-term emotional growth.

I have a passion for working with couples, families, and adult individuals who are ready to create meaningful change in their relationships and within themselves. My areas of focus include:

  • Couples and relational counseling

  • Pre-marital counseling (Certified Prepare-Enrich facilitator)

  • Family therapy and conflict resolution

  • Trauma healing through Internal Family Systems (IFS)

  • Addiction and recovery support

  • Identity exploration and life transitions

  • Anxiety, stress, and emotional regulation

I specialize in helping couples identify the deeper emotional processes that influence their interactions and communication. My work often focuses on helping partners understand what’s happening within themselves (intrapersonally) and how that impacts their relationships.

For families, I approach conflict as an opportunity for growth rather than something to fear. I help families navigate communication challenges and find a renewed sense of understanding and connection.

I also work with individuals who are facing trauma, anxiety, substance use challenges, or major life changes—providing a safe, grounded space to process, heal, and rediscover strength.

While working with me, you can expect compassion, empathy, and authenticity every step of the way. I believe that no two people share the same story — your experiences, challenges, and strengths are uniquely your own. In our sessions, your voice will always be heard, valued, and respected.

Beginning therapy takes courage, and simply exploring this option is an incredible first step toward growth and healing. If you’re ready to move forward on your mental health journey, I would be honored to walk beside you as you navigate your path toward balance, clarity, and restoration.

Approach

I take a flexible, integrative approach to therapy, drawing from Internal Family Systems (IFS), trauma-informed care, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to meet each client’s individual needs. This allows us to work together in a way that feels natural, effective, and deeply personal to you.

At the heart of my work is the belief that healing begins in a safe, supportive space — one where you can show up as your true self without fear of judgment. As a relational therapist, I see the connection between client and therapist as the foundation for lasting growth. My goal is to help you feel seen, understood, and empowered to create the life you want.

I specialize in supporting individuals, couples, and families navigating challenges such as anxiety, depression, mood disorders, and stress. My expertise includes helping clients build effective coping skills, improve communication, and strengthen relationships impacted by marriage or parenting difficulties. I also have experience working with clients who have experienced trauma, providing a safe and compassionate environment to process painful experiences and foster healing. My goal is to help clients develop greater self-awareness, emotional balance, and resilience as they work toward lasting growth and well-being.
