JoEllen Lange

My passion is in serving adults, singles or couples, and helping them find peace and contentment in their life narratives and their future plans. I strive to help my clients find contentment or joy in their relationships with self and others in all areas of life, such as family or friend concerns, sex and intimacy, finances and future planning, work, loss, and more. The meanings we each assign to the events of daily life in relationship to and with self, intimate partners, family members, and others can cause us hurt or confusion. It is my privilege to help people explore their own meanings and other possibilities and bring awareness and ownership of self to their relationships. My approach in this joint discovery is client-centered and I use a variety of therapeutic methods, including strengths-based, client-based, narrative solutions, and collaborative. I am empathic, calm, patient, and curious.

I believe in being active in my personal and professional communities. I am a pre-clinical level member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT) and the Minnesota Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (MAMFT). I am PREPARE/ENRICH certified and love using this tool to help couples understand their differences and strengthen their connections. I served on the MN professional board (MAMFT) and am a long-time participant in a patient and family advisory mental health and behavioral board with a major local hospital. I am a hospice volunteer with seniors at end of life. I am intrigued by the fascinating connection between body and mind and am excited about exploring this. I also enjoy reading, painting, home renovations, reducing, re-using, recycling, TV and movie mysteries, and especially time with family and friends.

I hold a master's degree in marriage and family therapy from Argosy University-Twin Cities and a bachelor's degree in physiology from the University of MN-Twin Cities. I am a pre-licensed therapist under supervision working toward licensure under license #3182 with the Minnesota Board of Marriage and Family Therapy. My Minnesota board approved supervisor is Traci Valentine, MEd, LMFT, MN license #2187.

Please call 651-689-3359 to schedule an appointment with me. On Mondays, I am at the Woodbury location and able to accept insurance. See the Fees page for accepted insurance at Valentine Counseling Services, LLC.
